Documentary Deaf & migration

Are you a deaf migrant?

During migration you will face various challenges: learn about new languages and cultures, go through many different administrative procedures, or look for a school that suits your children best. Doof Vlaanderen wants to provide this website to deaf migrants as an accessible tool that consists of useful information on immigration. Also, this website provides information on where to meet other deaf people and, as such, discover the Flemish deaf community on your own. In the documentary above the floor is given to some deaf migrants and experts on the matter.

Workshops "Deaf migrants" for deafclubs, services and organisations

As part of the project regarding deaf migrants, we want to turn the information from the “Doof & Migratie” project into an accessible workshop for Flemish deaf clubs and for services who come into contact with deaf migrants. The video will give you more information as to how and what. The deaf clubs will be contacted by us and soon we will spread more information about when and where the workshops will take place. For the services, we will start off by organising a test workshop for about 4 organisations. Do you believe a test workshop like that might be interesting for your organization? VGT course for deaf migrants

As part of the project regarding deaf migrants we are currently developing a course for deaf migrants. Are you a deaf migrant and would you like to learn Flemish Sign Language? Would you like to know more about Belgian society and its culture? Then this course will be exactly right for you! The course starts in February and ends in June, with a total of 15 meet-ups. The introduction will be held February 15 2020 from 10 o-clock in the morning until 3 o-clock in the afternoon. The video will give you more detailed information about the course.
